Unlikely Trio Unveils Government Conspiracy in ‘They Cloned Tyrone’
As per Netflix, the film’s logline follows: “A series of eerie events thrusts an unlikely trio (John Boyega, Teyonah Parris, and Jamie Foxx) onto the trail of a nefarious government experience conspiracy in this pulpy mystery caper.“
They Cloned Tyrone is directed by Juel Taylor in his feature film directorial debut, from a screenplay by Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier. The film also stars John Boyega as Fontaine, Teyonah Parris as Yo-Yo, Jamie Foxx as Slick Charles, Kiefer Sutherland, J. Alphonse Nicholson, David Alan Grier, Eric Robinson Jr., and Tamberla Perry.
In an interview with EW, Taylor said, “There’s a lot of stuff that you could read into with the film, but we really didn’t set out to make something that was didactic or preachy.” Taylor added, “I think we put a lot of care into it. There are themes in the movie, there are games that we’re playing in the movie that you can latch onto. But I think different people are going to take different things from it. And that’s cool.” See the character posters below.
‘They Cloned Tyrone’ will have its world premiere at the American Black Film Festival on June 14, 2023. Following the premiere, the film is slated for release on July 21, 2023, by Netflix.
