Netflix has released the trailer for the ‘One Piece‘ series, a live-action adaptation of the popular 1997 Japanese manga by Eiichiro Oda. The trailer premiered during the Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event in Brazil on June 17, 2023. Watch the trailer below.
In the trailer, Iñaki Godoy plays Monkey D. Luffy, a young teenager with rubber-like powers. He sails across islands and oceans with his crew of misfits, known as the Straw Hats. Together, they’re on a quest to find the legendary One Piece treasure. Luffy’s crew includes Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Along their journey, they’ll face rivals who want to stop them. But with Luffy’s stretchy abilities and cleverness, they don’t stand a chance.
Luffy shares his dreams: “The sea has always called to me since I was a kid. So, I’m setting out to follow my dreams. I want to become the King of the Pirates, and all I need is a loyal crew.”
In a seafaring world, a young pirate captain sets out with his crew to attain the title of Pirate King and to discover the mythical treasure: the One Piece.
One Piece also stars Vincent Regan, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Langley Kirkwood, Jeff Ward, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, McKinley Belcher III, Craig Fairbrass, Steven Ward, and Chioma Umeala.
This thrilling pirate adventure is a collaboration between Shueisha, Tomorrow Studios, and Netflix. Matt Owens and Steven Maeda serve as writers, executive producers, and showrunners, while Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements also executive produce.
One Piece will premiere on Netflix on August 31, 2023.
