Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third film in the Knives Out series, is getting a massive budget from Netflix.
According to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider report, the film will have a budget of $210 million, making it five times more expensive than the original film’s $40 million budget.
Daniel Craig—who returns as Benoit Blanc—will be paid around $80–$100 million for Knives Out 3. His salary is just one part of Netflix’s massive deal that secured the streamer’s exclusive rights to the highly sought-after content.
Budget Breakdown: Knives Out Films Including Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
Here are the budgets for the Knives Out films:
- Knives Out (2019): $40 million
- Knives Out 2 (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery) (2022): Approximately $45 million
- Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025): Reportedly $210 million
Recently, director Rian Johnson confirmed the wrapping of Wake Up Dead Man on the X platform. The film features a star-studded cast, including Craig alongside Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin as Father Frank, Mila Kunis as Police Chief G. Scott, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
The film is a standalone sequel to Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) — and the third installment in the Knives Out film series — directed by Johnson. In the announcement statement, Johnson said, “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.” Johnson added, “We’re about to go into production on the third one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going.”
Produced by Johnson and his partner, Ram Bergman, through T-Street Pictures and will be distributed by Netflix.
‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’ will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
