Sony Pictures released the second trailer for Kraven the Hunter from the Sony/Marvel “Spider-Man” Universe, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as one of Marvel’s most iconic villains, Kraven.
The R-rated trailer shows Kraven’s bloody hunt for his enemies—and gives us our first look at the Rhino, played by Alessandro Nivola as Aleksei Sytsevich/Rhino, a Russian mercenary who can transform into a human-rhino hybrid.
Why Kraven the Hunter Delayed?
According to Deadline, Sony delayed Kraven the Hunter—which was supposed to be released last year—to allow director J. C. Chandor to have reshoots that would sharpen the characters and tighten the plot. Sony is also very confident that Kraven the Hunter will be as successful as the Venom films.
Here’s the official plot details for Kraven the Hunter:
In ‘Kraven the Hunter,’ Kraven (Taylor-Johnson) is recruited by Calypso (Ariana DeBose) to stop a corrupt magnate named Gregory Herd (Nivola) from doing something bad called the Gathering of the Five. Herd hires two people, the Foreigner and the Chameleon (Fred Hechinger), to stop Kraven. Later, Kraven finds out that the Chameleon is his brother, and their father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), is the real villain and Herd’s boss. Calypso also works for Nikolai and tricks Kraven so that Nikolai can sacrifice him. But then Calypso falls in love with Kraven and helps him fight Nikolai.
The film is directed by Chandor from a screenplay by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk. Produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel. Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, Kraven the Hunter is the fourth film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU). (See the set images).
Kraven the Hunter hits theaters on December 13, 2024.
