Oleksandr Usyk, the newly crowned Undisputed World Heavyweight Boxing Champion who recently secured victory against Tyson Fury, has been cast in A24’s ‘The Smashing Machine‘ alongside Dwayne Johnson (The Rock).
In the film, Usyk will portray the role of MMA legend Igor Vovchanchyn, engaging in a massive face-off with Johnson’s Mark Kerr. The movie also features Emily Blunt as Kerr’s wife, Dawn Staples.
With ‘The Smashing Machine,’ Usyk is stepping into the world of Hollywood, since his massive win against Fury that had fans everywhere on the edge of their seats. That fight, especially the moment when Usyk nearly knocked down Fury, has firmly established him as the new standout in the sport, surpassing Fury’s previous dominance.
The film is written and directed by Benny Safdie. Recently, the first look image for the film featuring Johnson as Kerr in the middle of the fight was revealed by A24.

‘The Smashing Machine’ is reportedly set for a theatrical release in December 2024.
