The trailer for IFC Films’ upcoming comedy Paint has been revealed. The film stars Owen Wilson plays Carl Nargle, Vermont’s top painting show presenter for over 30 years. The station employs a younger, better painter who grabs Carl’s things (and everyone). Watch the trailer below.
Directed by Brit McAdams. The film also stars Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ciara Renée as Ambrosia, Lusia Strus, Stephen Root, Lucy Freyer, Denny Dillon, Evander Duck Jr., Will Blagrove, and Ryan Czerwonko. Check out the poster below.
Vulture reported that Ross’s three p’s—perm, painting, and public TV—inspire the character. The Blacklist described him as “a Bob Ross–esque PBS painting show host.”
Produced by Sam Maydew and Peter Brant. Wilson executive produces alongside Richard J. Bosner and Joel David Moore.
Paint will hit theaters on April 7, 2023, and stream exclusively on AMC+ in the US in late 2023.
