‘Pitch Perfect: Bumper In Berlin‘ has been canceled by Peacock after one season. It was initially renewed for Season 2 in early January, but that decision has now been reversed.
Why was ‘Pitch Perfect: Bumper In Berlin’ Season 2 Canceled?
According to Deadline, the show’s cancellation resulted from work stoppages during the ongoing 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike and the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike. These strikes caused production delays, resulting in significant gaps between seasons and causing the show to miss its target release dates.
This show, developed by Megan Amram and Elizabeth Banks, is a TV series spin-off of the ‘Pitch Perfect‘ film series, based on characters created by Kay Cannon. The cast includes Adam DeVine as Bumper Allen, Sarah Hyland as Heidi, Jameela Jamil as Gisela, Lera Abova as DJ Das Boot/Thea, Flula Borg as Pieter Krämer, and Katharina Thalbach as Ursula.
The series is set several years after the events of the films. Devine returns as Bumper Allen, who moves to Germany to revive his music career when one of his songs becomes big in Berlin.
Produced by Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman, Megan Amram, Paul Brooks, and Scott Niemeyer.
Season 1, consisting of 6 episodes, premiered on Peacock on November 23, 2022. It was renewed for a second season in January 2023 but canceled in September 2023.
