Preston Mutanga, the creator of the LEGO universe for ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,’ has recently shared a new clip from the film, featuring a scene rendered in Lego mode. The scene depicts Miles Morales saying, “I gotta go home, man,” as he returns from the Spider Society to his universe. See the clip below.
Preston Mutanga, a 14-year-old kid, recreated the ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ trailers and also animated the LEGO scenes in the film. Preston, known as “LEGOMe_TheOG” on Twitter, used his skills to bring the LEGO universe to life in Across the Spider-Verse. In an interview with the New York Times, Mutanga said, “I also used to make comics when I was younger.” He added, “Looking back at them now, they’re not the greatest; I’m not going to lie, but it was good practice for telling stories.”
‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ is a highly praised film. It received an “A” rating from CinemaScore, has a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and is one of the highest-rated movies on Letterboxd. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has achieved remarkable success at the worldwide box office, grossing over $494 million, surpassing its predecessor, and securing its position as the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2023. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and is set in a shared multiverse of alternate universes called the “Spider-Verse“. The film is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson (in their feature directorial debuts) from a screenplay written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham.
