‘Prey 2‘ is officially in the works at 20th Century Studios, with filming set to begin later this year, as confirmed by Deadline.
The story will return to the original setting of the film, with the possibility of the original star, Amber Midthunder, making a return.
Dan Trachtenberg will direct the sequel, and he will also helm a new ‘Predator‘ movie titled ‘Badlands,’ for which he will serve as writer and director.
‘Badlands’ is a new standalone film in the franchise, expected to start filming later this year. Trachtenberg co-wrote the script with Patrick Aison. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it’s confirmed to feature a Predator.
‘Prey’ was released in 2022 as the fifth film in the mainline series and the seventh in the Predator franchise. Serving as a prequel to the first four films, it is set in the Northern Great Plains in 1719. The plot follows a young Comanche woman named Naru (Midthunder) as she endeavors to establish herself as a hunter. Naru is compelled to defend her people from a savage, humanoid alien that hunts humans for sport, as well as from French fur traders who are decimating the buffalo population upon which they depend for survival.
‘Prey’ is now available on Hulu and Disney+.
