‘Ready or Not 2‘ is in development at Searchlight Pictures, as confirmed by The InSneider.
As per reports, Samara Weaving will reprise her role as Grace Le Domas, with ‘Escape Room’ director Adam Robitel in talks to direct.
‘Ready or Not’ was released in 2019. It was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a screenplay by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. The film stars Weaving, Adam Brody, Mark O’Brien, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell. Despite its $6 million budget, the film grossed $57.6 million worldwide.
What is ‘Ready or Not’ About?
According to the film’s plot, “Grace couldn’t be happier after she marries the man of her dreams at his family’s luxurious estate. There’s just one catch – she must now hide from midnight until dawn while her new in-laws hunt her down with guns, crossbows, and other weapons. As Grace desperately tries to survive the night, she soon finds a way to turn the tables on her not-so-lovable relatives.”
At the end of ‘Ready or Not,’ Grace survives the dangerous game played by her new family, the Le Domas. She outsmarts them and emerges as the winner.
Robitel is a well-known horror filmmaker. His debut film was 2014’s ‘The Taking of Deborah Logan,’ followed by 2015’s ‘Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension,’ 2018’s ‘Insidious: The Last Key,’ 2019’s ‘Escape Room,’ and its sequel, 2021’s ‘Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.’ If he directs the ‘Ready or Not’ sequel, it will surely be great.
Weaving is currently busy filming E.L. Katz’s action-horror film ‘Azrael,’ Jimmy Warden’s comedy-thriller ‘Borderline,’ alongside Eric Dane and Ray Nicholson, and Netflix’s comedy ‘Little Sky.’
The film’s production companies are Mythology Entertainment, Vinson Films, and Radio Silence Productions. Searchlight Pictures distributed the film.
