Reed Richards will not only use his stretching powers to fight Galactus, but as a genius-level intellect, he is also capable of creating advanced weaponry of his own design.
According to Collider, Pedro Pascal‘s Reed Richards will reportedly use cannons to attack Galactus in Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

In a retrofuturistic 1960s world, Galactus arrives as a giant being targeting Franklin Richards, the son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. The Fantastic Four must stop him—but how? Can the cannons stop or defeat Galactus?
In a recent test screening, it was reported that The Fantastic Four: First Steps focuses entirely on the team grappling with the inevitability of their extinction.

Speaking to Collider, director Matt Shakman said the 1960s culture was key to The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Shakman said, “The comics were created in the ‘60s, and they’re very much informed by the space race and that JFK sense of optimism. It really defined that decade—looking to the stars—and you see it not just in the Fantastic Four, but you see it in Star Trek, which is another project that’s all about family, optimism, and the belief that the right head and the right heart in combination can solve any problem.”
Shakman added, “You see it in Spock and Kirk, you see it in Sue and Reed, and so these are some of the similar themes we’re dealing with.”
Vanessa Kirby confirms she is playing a pregnant Sue Storm in the movie, describing the role as “the reality of embracing being pregnant and then carrying a baby throughout—without falling into tropes or the archetypes we often see in film around it.”
Here’s the plot details for The Fantastic Four: First Steps:
Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic (Pascal), Sue Storm / Invisible Woman (Kirby), Johnny Storm / Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm / The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet — and everyone on it — weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.
The film also stars Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles. Directed by Shakman, produced by Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters and IMAX on July 25, 2025.
