Renate Reinsve has been cast in Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel’s ‘Armand.’ The production company, associated with Joachim Trier’s Oscar-nominated “The Worst Person in the World” has begun filming.
What Is The Plot Of Armand?
From director Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel, The film follows a 6-year-old boy, Armand, who is accused of crossing boundaries against his best friend at elementary school. While no one knows what actually happened between the two boys, the incident triggers a series of events, forcing parents and school staff into a captivating battle of redemption where madness, desire, and obsession arise.
Charades will handle international sales. ‘Armand’ is the directorial debut of Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel, whose short film “Fanny” received an Amanda Award nomination in 2017, Norway’s equivalent to the Oscars.
In a statement, Berentsen Ottmar, who described Ullmann Tøndel as a promising director, said, “Halfdan has written a truly captivating story with a lot of excess and boldness.” Ottmar added, “I think we will see a lot of interesting projects coming from him in the future.“
The film is a co-production involving Keplerfilm in the Netherlands, Prolaps in Sweden, One Two Films in Germany, as well as Zefyr and Film i Väst. Joachim Trier and Dyveke Bjørkly Graver serve as executive producers on the film.
Eye Eye Pictures, a production company focused on director-driven movies and TV series with international potential, brings together a group of associated filmmakers including Trier, Borgli, Ullmann Tøndel, Johanna Pyykkö, Dara Van Dusen, Thea Hvistendahl, and more.
Renate Reinsve starred as Julie in Joachim Trier’s “The Worst Person in the World” (2021), which premiered at Cannes. Reinsve considered quitting acting before landing the role, which was written specifically for her. In 2022, she appeared in Aaron Schimberg’s “A Different Man” opposite Sebastian Stan.
