In Marvel Comics, Hammerhead first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #113 in 1972—created by writer Gerry Conway and artist John Romita Sr. He is a violent mob enforcer with a steel-reinforced skull—which helps him rise in the criminal underworld. Over time, he has fought Spider-Man and Daredevil many times. He has also been involved in gang wars against Kingpin and Silvermane—clashed with Doctor Octopus—and even got cybernetic upgrades to become stronger. With his ruthless nature and old-school gangster style, Hammerhead remains one of Marvel’s most dangerous crime bosses.
