The upcoming Disney’s ‘Kingdom Hearts‘ film is reportedly set to be a live-action/CGI hybrid, as confirmed by insider Daniel Richtman in his exclusive Patreon post.
So, the film will be a Live-Action/CGI Hybrid, combining real actors with computer-generated imagery (CGI) to create characters and scenes, as seen in 2010’s Avatar, 2016’s The Jungle Book, and 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog.
Recently, a report from Skyler Schuler (via Disinsider) stated, “Well, to get one thing out of the way, Disney is developing an animated Kingdom Hearts movie. While years back I had heard the idea was to do something on Disney+, more recently I have heard the goal would be a big-screen adaptation, but as of now, these are just rumblings and nothing has been greenlit. Disney may have more of an interest in actual gaming instead of developing movies based on video games… Prince of Persia and Need For Speed were both duds for Disney.”
The Kingdom Hearts franchise has stuff like toys, spin-offs, comic books, and storybooks. They talked about making a TV show in 2003, but it never happened. They mentioned a TV show again in 2020, but we haven’t heard anything about it since then.
The upcoming ‘Kingdom Hearts IV’ is a role-playing game made by Square Enix for the PlayStation 5. It follows 2019’s ‘Kingdom Hearts III’ and is the thirteenth game in the series. It’s set to come out on June 16, 2025.
