Paramount executives are impressed by early footage of Ridley Scott‘s ‘Gladiator 2,’ as confirmed by Deadline.
The early footage from ‘Gladiator 2’ has reportedly “blown execs away” at Paramount Pictures, as the film is currently in post-production.
‘Gladiator 2’ serves as a sequel to the 2000 film ‘Gladiator.’ It was written by David Scarpa. Paul Mescal stars as Lucius Verus, with Denzel Washington portraying a former slave-turned-wealthy arms dealer. Other cast members include Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, May Calamawy, Connie Nielsen, Derek Jacobi, Lior Raz, Peter Mensah, Matt Lucas, and Tim McInnerny.

In ‘Gladiator 2′, set 20 years later, Lucius, son of Lucilla (Nielsen), carries on Maximus’ legacy. Inspired by Maximus’ sacrifice, Lucius forsakes his birthright as Caesar and fights in the arena as his political past resurfaces.
According to Deadline, Scott is in negotiations to direct Paramount’s untitled Bee Gees movie. Scott will produce with his partner Michael Pruss of Scott Free, Graham King of GK Films, and Stacey Snider. Paramount will distribute worldwide, with Amblin and Sister having co-financing rights. Barry Gibb is executive producing, with John Logan penning the script.
The Bee Gees sold over 220 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling groups ever. Their popularity surged after they wrote songs for ‘Saturday Night Fever,’ earning them five Grammys, including Album of the Year.
‘Gladiator 2’ is set to hit theaters on November 22, 2024, distributed by Paramount Pictures in the United States and Universal Pictures internationally.
