Robert Downey Jr. will appear as Doctor Doom in the upcoming Marvel’s ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps.’ He is reportedly from the same universe as the Fantastic Four, as confirmed by Daniel Richtman in his Patreon post.
Recently, Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider post confirmed that Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom would be introduced in a mid-credits or post-credits sequence at the end of ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’.
In the MCU, Downey Jr. is returning, but this time as the villain Doctor Doom in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ The Russo Brothers, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo will be directing from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely.
Filming for ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ is underway in London. During Disney’s D23 Marvel Panel, they previewed the film’s main theme, composed by Michael Giacchino, and a short glimpse.
Directed by Matt Shakman from the original script penned by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, which has undergone a rewrite by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. In the film, Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Ralph Ineson as Galactus. Julia Garner is set to portray a female Silver Surfer, with Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich in undisclosed roles. Additionally, characters yet to be cast include Mole Man and H.E.R.B.I.E.
According to Marvel, the film’s scenes were filmed in a 4:3 aspect ratio. The Fantastic Four go to space and encounter a comic-accurate Galactus.
The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Grant Curtis, and Nick Pepin.
‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to be released on May 1, 2026, and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ will be released on May 7, 2027.
