Rockstar Games has requested all employees to return to the office five days a week starting in April as ‘Grand Theft Auto VI‘ approaches its final development phase.
According to a Bloomberg report, ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ is set to enter its final stages of development in April 2024, with a more probable launch in early 2025. Rockstar’s Head of Publishing stated that employees will return to the office five days a week to ensure the game achieves the quality level and polish that matches its scale and ambition.
Jenn Kolbe, Rockstar’s Head of Publishing, also clarified to employees who were hesitant about returning to in-person work that the decision was made for productivity and security reasons. This was in response to numerous security breaches, aiming to prevent future leaks.
Kolbe wrote, “Making these changes now puts us in the best position to deliver the next Grand Theft Auto at the level of quality and polish we know it requires, along with a publishing roadmap that matches the scale and ambition of the game.”
Recently, Rockstar released the first trailer for ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’. According to the synopsis, “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond, in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet. Coming 2025 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.”
Rockstar Games confirmed the realness of the GTA 6 leak from September 2022. They called it ‘early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto’ on Twitter (X) but didn’t discuss the leak’s specifics, expressing disappointment over the leak.
In a statement, Rockstar said, “We do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects. Promising an official update to this next game when it is ready.”
There’s talk of Grand Theft Auto VI costing $150, but Rockstar hasn’t confirmed it, and there’s no reliable source to back this up. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick thinks $70 is a fair price for a game. GTA 6 doesn’t have a release date yet, and Rockstar Games hasn’t shown it, though they’ve confirmed they’re working on it.
