Sony is rumored to be planning to make their upcoming Venom: The Last Dance PG-13, even though its current version is rated R, and they have already released red-band trailers. The report comes from X user and insider @Cryptic4KQual.
The confirmation regarding the PG-13 or R-rated status will be known from the start of October. Yep, the tickets for Venom: The Last Dance will reportedly go on sale on October 1.
From the pre-production stage, director Kelly Marcel and Tom Hardy developed the Venom: The Last Dance script as R-rated, while the previous films, Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), are both rated PG-13. Sony has allowed R-rated movies, and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter is also rated R.
According to the film’s official plot synopsis, “In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”
Kelly Marcel, who directed the first film will return to direct from a screenplay she co-wrote with Hardy. It is a sequel to Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The film stars Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom, Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, and Stephen Graham.
Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters on October 25, 2024, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
