Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday is bringing back Elizabeth Olsen‘s Scarlet Witch, with the script focusing on her redemption arc.
According to a new report from Alex Perez’s November Discord Q&A (via Cosmic Circus), Scarlet Witch and Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom will team up in Avengers: Doomsday. Another key plotline involves Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Doctor Strange and Charlize Theron‘s Clea in the Dark Dimension. By the time Doomsday takes place, Strange will have been missing from Earth-616 for two years.
The Scarlet Witch and Doctor Doom pairing won’t follow a romantic plot as in the comics; instead, Wanda will focus on redeeming herself—trying to undo her mistakes with the Darkhold. This storyline will center around Scarlet Witch’s redemption arc.
Strange’s sudden disappearance will build suspense, as he hasn’t informed Wong of his whereabouts—leading to a dramatic and impactful reunion with the other Earth-616 heroes.
During Disney D23 Brazil, Marvel President Kevin Feige teased Wanda Maximoff’s return to the MCU, stating, “I can only say that we are excited to find out when and how the Scarlet Witch can come back.”
Filming for Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to begin in March 2025, with the Russo Brothers directing and Stephen McFeely writing the script. Unusually for Marvel, the Russo Brothers will also produce both films through their AGBO banner.
As reported, Avengers: Doomsday will be a multiverse film—because it’s the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga. The plot of Avengers: Doomsday follows Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, who isn’t truly evil; he believes he is trying to save the multiverse from incursions. In his twisted logic, the only way for the multiverse to survive is to unify all universes in one place—Battleworld—under his rule. He sees this as the sole path to ensuring survival for everyone.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on May 1, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars will be released on May 7, 2027.
