Scarlett Johansson has been offered the lead role in the upcoming Gareth Edwards‘ ‘Jurassic World‘ movie, as confirmed by The InSneider.

According to reports, Johansson is rumored to play a scientist sent to an island for research in the film. The female lead character is among the group of scientists saved by rescuers. Although there were ideas of casting a Latina actress, the choice remains undecided. We’ll have to wait for further updates.

The filming is set to begin on July 31, 2024, in Los Angeles. Directed by Edwards and written by David Koepp, the upcoming movie marks a fresh take, ushering in a new Jurassic era. This fourth installment of Jurassic World sees the return of screenwriter David Koepp, renowned for his contributions to Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic and its 1997 sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Koepp’s involvement hints at a continuation of the franchise’s legacy, promising an exciting blend of storytelling expertise and nostalgic elements.

The film will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment, with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley producing. Kelly McCormick will also produce through 87North. Sara Scott, Executive Vice President of Production Development, and Jacqueline Garell, Creative Executive of Production Development, will oversee the project for the Studio.

The Jurassic franchise is a vital part of Universal’s film history. The 1993 original movie, which redefined special effects, has had a lasting impact on pop culture. Over three decades, six movies in the franchise have earned over $6 billion worldwide.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 2, 2025, by Universal Pictures.
