The original script for Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four,’ penned by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, is reportedly undergoing a rewrite with new writers on board.
According to insider Daniel Richtman on Patreon, the ‘Fantastic Four’ script is reportedly being rewritten by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber and is expected to be finished in a month or two.
Why is the ‘Fantastic Four’ Script Undergoing Revisions?
The revisions to the ‘Fantastic Four’ script are important for the upcoming Avengers films, especially ‘Avengers 5.’ Marvel is revamping the entire script after parting ways with Jonathan Majors, now centering on a new villain-centric focus. ‘Avengers 5’ is set to begin filming in late 2024 and is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026.
According to reports, The Beyonder is confirmed as the main villain in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ providing a reason to consider recasting Kang the Conqueror.
‘Fantastic Four’ is directed by Matt Shakman. The rumored cast is Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic/Dr. Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Jake Gyllenhaal as Mister Fantastic, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing.
Recently, Moss-Bachrach, speaking on the Emmys red carpet with The Wrap, was asked about playing The Thing in ‘Fantastic Four.’ He replied, “I can’t confirm and I can’t deny, I think.”
The filming start date for ‘Fantastic Four’ is now set for Q3 2024. Pascal, initially part of ‘Weapons,’ has left the project to accommodate his schedule, including commitments to HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2. According to reports, Anya Taylor-Joy is being considered for the female villain role, which we recently mentioned would feature a female Silver Surfer as the herald of Galactus in the film.
Produced by Kevin Feige, Grant Curtis, and Nick Pepin.
‘Fantastic Four’ hits theaters on July 25, 2025.
