The Venom rumors in Spider-Man 4 are turning out to be true. An official press release from Sony Pictures Japan teases that Tom Hardy’s Venom will appear in the upcoming Sony/Marvel Spider-Man 4. The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 24, 2026.
According to the press release, Tom Holland, who plays Peter, has already given his stamp of approval to the story: “This will be a real movie that fans can respect!” Is Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie in the Venom series, ready to take part?
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, it will be the fourth installment of the Spider-Man series. “Following the events of Avengers: Doomsday, Peter Parker is determined to lead a normal life and focus on college, stepping back from his responsibilities as Spider-Man. However, peace is short-lived when a deadly new threat emerges, endangering his friends and forcing Peter to reconsider his promise. With stakes higher than ever, Peter reluctantly returns to his Spider-Man identity and finds himself teaming up with an unlikely ally to protect those he loves.”
Hardy, who plays Venom/Eddie Brock in Venom: The Last Dance—a huge hit worldwide that picks up from the final scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home—was asked to send a message to fans at the New York premiere. Although it’s the last film in the series, he said, “In fact, I should not say goodbye to Venom, but welcome to the final stage (the last dance). Venom’s story is not over yet. He still has a lot to do,” leaving open the possibility of more stories. When asked about the crossover with Spider-Man, which fans are excited about, he praised Holland, saying, “Tom Holland is the best Spider-Man,” and added, “I would love to work with him. If someone needs me, I’d be happy to participate.”
In a recent episode of the Rich Roll Podcast, Holland shared his thoughts on reading the latest draft of Spider-Man 4. He revealed that about three weeks ago, he read the final draft with his co-star Zendaya, and believes it to be “worthy of fan respect.”
Holland said, “We have a creative pitch and a draft, which is excellent. It needs work, but the writers are doing a great job.” Holland added, “I read it 3 weeks ago, and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I read it together, and at times we were bouncing around the living room, like, ‘This is a real movie worthy of fans’ respect.'”
Produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
