The Silver Sable project was initially planned as a new Spider-Man spin-off movie in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU), but there has been no progress on its development in recent years. However, there is now an update: Sony has resumed development of the project to be set within the SSU.
According to insider Daniel Richtman in his latest Patreon post, the Silver Sable project is reportedly back in development at Sony. As of now, Sony has declined to comment on this.
Who is Silver Sable in Marvel Comics?
In Marvel Comics, Silver Sable—also known as Silver Sable Sablinova—made her debut in The Amazing Spider-Man #265 in 1985, created by writer Tom DeFalco and artist Ron Frenz. She is a Latvian mercenary, hunter, and anti-heroine, as well as a highly skilled hand-to-hand combatant and marksman. She is also proficient in various forms of combat and has extensive training in tactics and strategy.
Silver Sable has had various interactions with Spider-Man—often oscillating between ally and adversary—due to her mercenary work. She is frequently associated with other characters in the Marvel Universe, including the New Warriors and the Punisher.
As confirmed, Sony is also developing a Sinister Six movie featuring characters from their Spider-Man spin-offs. They will kick off production after Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4.
Filming for Spider-Man 4 is set to begin on May 25, 2025, in the U.K. and is expected to wrap in October. The script is penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton on board to direct.
