Sony’s ‘Kraven the Hunter’ Release Date Delayed for the 4th Time

Sony’s ‘Kraven the Hunter,’ starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, has been delayed for the 4th time. The R-rated movie has been pushed back to December 13, 2024, from its original release date of August 30, 2024.

So, ‘Kraven the Hunter’ has overtaken the new ‘Karate Kid’ release date, which was originally set for December 13. Sony has rescheduled the ‘Karate Kid’ movie to hit theaters on May 30, 2025.

Recently, Sony changed the release date of ‘Venom: The Last Dance‘ from November 8th to October 25th to ensure that the U.S. elections didn’t overshadow its release.

In ‘Kraven the Hunter,’ Kraven (Taylor-Johnson) is recruited by Calypso (Ariana DeBose) to stop a corrupt magnate named Gregory Herd (Alessandro Nivola) from doing something bad called the Gathering of the Five. Herd hires two people, the Foreigner and the Chameleon (Fred Hechinger), to stop Kraven. Later, Kraven finds out that the Chameleon is his brother, and their father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), is the real villain and Herd’s boss. Calypso also works for Nikolai and tricks Kraven so that Nikolai can sacrifice him. But then Calypso falls in love with Kraven and helps him fight Nikolai.

Directed by J. C. Chandor from a screenplay by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk. Produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel. Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, Kraven the Hunter is the fourth film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU). (See the set images). Recently, the first R-rated trailer for the film was released.

In an interview with Esquire, Chandor said ‘Kraven the Hunter’ focuses on young Sergei and his gangster father, played by Crowe. Both Taylor-Johnson and Chandor were influenced by the character’s dark comic fate.

He said, “Sony probably doesn’t want me to lead with this.” Chandor added, “But the story is a tragedy. When the final credits roll on this film, if you’ve been paying attention, you won’t have the feeling that this is all going to end great.“

Kraven the Hunter will hit theaters on December 13, 2024.
