The filming preparations for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day are now underway in Glasgow ahead of principal photography.
New images reveal that the construction site set for Spider-Man: Brand New Day confirms the film is still set in New York City (despite being filmed in Glasgow) and that it takes place before December 2027. A sign on set reads: “Anticipated Completion: DECEMBER 2027,” which indicates a three-year time jump since Spider-Man: No Way Home. See the images below.

In a recent interview with Collider, Marvel President Kevin Feige revealed that Peter Parker will be dealing with “street-level crime” in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Feige said, “I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home — that, for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing, for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories, him being a proper Spider-Man. Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with — for lack of a better term — street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events.”
Recently, speaking to Flip Your Wig, Tom Holland revealed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will rely heavily on practical effects and classic filmmaking techniques. The film is being shot in real-world locations rather than relying on CGI or virtual sets.
He said, “We are gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we are putting together.”
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film will be a “multiversal grounded” story featuring multiple villains, including Tarantula, Scorpion, Boomerang, Tombstone, and more.
Here’s the plot synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
After the world has forgotten his name, Peter Parker (Holland) begins a new chapter in his life — balancing college classes, part-time work, and his responsibility as New York’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. But when a mysterious force begins to unravel the city from the inside out, Peter finds himself caught between powerful enemies, old legacies, and unexpected allies. As shadows from the past creep into his present, he must redefine what it truly means to be a hero — on his own.
In the film, Holland will be returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon also reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink is rumored to play Gwen Stacy, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, and Liza Colón-Zayas has been cast in an undisclosed role. Additionally, Michael Mando is expected to reprise his Spider-Man: Homecoming role as Mac Gargan.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
