In a recent interview with Collider, Moriarty said, “Every season, we go a little bit deeper with each character.” She added, “The characters… that you thought would be villains, you start to learn a little bit more about them that perhaps makes you feel, not that they’re good guys, but that there are always going to be details that you can never anticipate that prevent you from putting that character in a box.”

Jack Quaid on the Relationship Between Hughie and Annie in ‘The Boys’ Season 4

Recently, Quaid opened Hughie and Annie’s relationship in season 4 to Collider: “Hughie and Annie’s Relationship is Stronger Than Ever in Season 4 of ‘The Boys’. He said, “This season, they’re the closest they’ve ever been. Last season, it was so tumultuous, and I think it needed to happen.”

Quaid continued, “When you go through moments like that and you survive them, you come out so much stronger. So, I think Annie and Hughie are stronger than they’ve ever been this season, which I love seeing. I just love seeing the two of them not having to hide anything from the world and just being themselves around each other, being a full-on couple, happy as one can be in a world like the one we exist in on the show. That was wonderful, just to see them as a truly lived-in couple this season. That was such an interesting dynamic to play because it’s always so fraught, but they’re each other’s rocks this season, for sure.”

The show, created by Eric Kripke for Amazon, is based on the comic book series of the same name written by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. Season 4 stars Karl Urban as William “Billy” Butcher, Quaid as Hugh “Hughie” Campbell Jr., Antony Starr as John Gillman/Homelander, Moriarty as Annie January/Starlight, Jessie T. Usher as Reggie Franklin/A-Train, Laz Alonso as Marvin T. “Mother’s” Milk/MM, Chace Crawford as Kevin Moskowitz/The Deep, Tomer Capone as Serge/Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko Miyashiro/The Female, Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir II, Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett, Claudia Doumit as Victoria “Vic the Veep” Neuman/Nadia Khayat, Cameron Crovetti as Ryan, Valorie Curry as Firecracker, Susan Heyward as Sister Sage, Simon Pegg as Hugh Campbell Sr., Jim Beaver as Robert “Dakota Bob” Singer, Matthew Edison as Cameron Coleman, Olivia Morandin as Zoe Neuman, Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, Asa Germann as Sam Riordan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Rosemarie DeWitt, Rob Benedict, and Elliot Knight.

Prime Video’s official synopsis for Season 4 reads, “The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and the rest of The Boys are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.”

Produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with Point Grey Pictures, Original Film, Kripke Enterprises, Kickstart Entertainment, and KFL Nightsky Productions.

‘The Boys’ Season 4, consisting of 8 episodes, will premiere on Prime Video on June 13, 2024.
