We have an exciting update about Marvel’s upcoming movie ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘—this information was revealed in episode 61 of The Cosmic Circle podcast, hosted by Brian Kitson, where he and fellow writers Anthony Flagg and Alex Perez discussed reveals from Marvel Studios’ Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
Galactus in the Multiverse: What to Expect
In the MCU, we know that there is a multiverse theory, which has our heroes in different versions as villains. But, in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we got the idea that there is only one America Chavez in the entire multiverse. Why I am telling you this because the latest reports confirm that in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Galactus will be the only version in the entire multiverse, with no variants. Similarly, he will be like Chavez, who also has no variants in the multiverse.
Franklin Richards to Appear in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ and ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
I have already confirmed that Franklin Richards, the son of Reed and Sue Richards, will appear in The Fantastic Four: First Steps—the plot is somehow connected to Franklin’s powers, as I can reveal. The Cosmic Circle podcast also confirms that Franklin will appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
The Future Foundation to Play a Key Role in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ and the Multiverse
The Future Foundation is a think tank and superhero team formed by Reed Richards—will play a key role in the ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ storyline and the multiverse.
In Marvel Comics, they focus on solving major scientific problems and preparing for future challenges, both on Earth and beyond. The team often engages in high-tech projects and interdimensional adventures. The members are Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (Human Torch), Ben Grimm (The Thing), Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Valeria Richards, Franklin Richards, Alex Powers, Artie Maddicks, and Leech.
Matt Shakman is directing The Fantastic Four: First Steps from the original script penned by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, which has undergone a rewrite by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. In the film, Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Ralph Ineson as Galactus. Julia Garner is set to portray a female Silver Surfer, with Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich in undisclosed roles. Additionally, characters yet to be cast include Mole Man and H.E.R.B.I.E.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, director Shakman says the movie will not be an origin story for the group.
Shakman said, “One of the things we decided early on was not to do an origin story.” Shakman added, “One of the ways we’re making it our own thing is we’re not telling the story of them going up and being changed, and starting our story [there]. There’s a lot of well-known narrative that leads into that moment, right? And then you’re making up your new story starting basically at the end of the first act, and we thought, ‘Well, let’s just start this thing off on a completely new foot.’ So we are beginning after that.”
Filming has officially begun in London, and we have shared some set images featuring a 1960s style.
Produced by Feige, Grant Curtis, and Nick Pepin. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
