The VOD release date for The Girl with the Needle has been revealed. This historical psychological horror thriller will be available to buy or rent on digital HD platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, Vudu, and Google Play Movies & TV, starting January 24, 2025.
Directed by Magnus von Horn, from a screenplay by von Horn and Line Langebek, the film is very loosely based on the true story of Danish serial killer Dagmar Overbye.
The cast includes Vic Carmen Sonne as Karoline, Trine Dyrholm as Dagmar, Besir Zeciri as Peter, Joachim Fjelstrup as Jørgen, Tessa Hoder as Frida, Avo Knox Martin as Erena, Anders Hove as the Judge, and Ari Alexander as Svendsen.

Struggling to survive in post-WWI Copenhagen, a newly unemployed and pregnant young woman is taken in by a charismatic elder to help run an underground adoption agency. The two form an unexpected bond, until a sudden discovery changes everything.

The Girl with the Needle was selected as Denmark’s entry for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards. Additionally, it was named one of the top five international films of 2024 by the National Board of Review.
