HBO’s ‘The Last of Us‘ Season 2 filming, originally set for January 7, 2024, is now scheduled to start on February 20, 2024, in Vancouver, BC, Canada, with filming expected to wrap on September 9, 2024.
The delay in production is due to Pedro Pascal‘s schedule. He is expected to resume filming ‘Gladiator 2‘ in January and has recently joined the cast of Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot, taking on the role of Mister Fantastic/Dr. Reed Richards.
‘The Last of Us’ Season 1 premiered on HBO on January 15, 2023, and was renewed for Season 2 on January 27, 2023, after the opening episode surpassed 22 million views. Showrunner Craig Mazin revealed that Season 2 will be split into two parts. He said, “The show won’t conclude with Season 2 unless viewers don’t watch it and it gets canceled.“
In Season 2, Pascal and Bella Ramsey will return to their roles as Joel Miller and Ellie Williams. Additionally, the new cast member Shannon Berry has been confirmed for the role of Abby Anderson.
Bella Ramsey Excited for ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2: Eager for Action-Packed Stunts as Ellie
In an interview with Collider, Ramsey revealed she is so excited for season 2 of ‘The Last of Us’ and expressed her eagerness to take on more action-packed stunts as Ellie.
Ramsey said, “Yeah, lots of things. I’m excited for the really intense stuff, because I did a bit of that in Season 1, obviously, but to do that.” Ramsey added, “And actually more physical scenes because Ellie is obviously more physically fit in Season 2. I love stunt stuff and like waking up with bruises the next day and finding myself with a black eye, just because it feels so good to have done it.”
Based on the 2013 video game of the same name, developed by Naughty Dog, the series follows Joel (Pascal), a smuggler tasked with escorting Ellie (Ramsey), a teenage girl, across the post-apocalyptic United States, and Joel’s younger brother and former militiaman, Tommy (Gabriel Luna). Along the way, they encounter fellow survivors, cutthroat bandits, and monstrous clickers who have become so infected by the disease that fungi sprout from their bodies. Created and written by Mazin and Neil Druckmann for HBO.
‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on HBO in early 2025.
‘The Last of Us Part II Remastered’ releases on January 19, 2024, for PS5.
