HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 has wrapped filming, as confirmed by editor Timothy Good. A huge wrap party with the entire crew was held following the last day of filming. According to Good, post-production has begun, and the season will premiere on HBO in 2025.
On X (formerly Twitter), Good shared some images from the wrap party and wrote, “Wrapped! Congratulations to the incredible production crew of The Last of Us Season 2. We will bring your hard work home now!”
According to X user @PhysicalMedia, there is a rumor that the first teaser trailer for The Last of Us Season 2 is set to release on September 26, 2024.
The second season, based on the 2020 game The Last of Us Part II developed by Naughty Dog, follows Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) in the aftermath of the first season and introduces Abby (Kaitlyn Dever). Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann serve as showrunners.
In Season 2, Pascal stars as Joel Miller, with Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Rutina Wesley as Maria, Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, Isabela Merced as Dina, Danny Ramirez as Manny, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Catherine O’Hara in an undisclosed guest role, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac Dixon.
In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast, Merced said that Dever and Ramsey will win an Emmy for their performances in ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2.
Merced said, “Give her the damn Emmy! I’m so excited for people to see how well Bella and Kaitlyn did on this.”
The Last of Us Season 2 will contain 7 episodes and premiere on HBO in early 2025.
