Tom Cruise is known as one of the top actors in Hollywood and also he ranked in the world’s highest-paid actors list. He has received three Golden Globe Awards including nominations for three Academy Awards.

According to Insider, Tom Cruise does his own stunts and never uses stunt doubles. Cruise himself pulls off. Hanging on the side of a plane, skydiving, and climbing the world’s tallest building.

1. Top Gun (1986)

Top Gun (1986)

Top Gun is directed by Tony Scott. The film Stars Tom Cruise as LT Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a US Navy pilot. The character was loosely based on Duke Cunningham and his accomplishments during the Vietnam War. The film follows, “The Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School is where the best of the best train to refine their elite flying skills. When hotshot fighter pilot Maverick (Tom Cruise) is sent to the school, his reckless attitude and cocky demeanor put him at odds with the other pilots, especially the cool and collected Iceman (Val Kilmer). But Maverick isn’t only competing to be the top fighter pilot, he’s also fighting for the attention of his beautiful flight instructor, Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis).”

The film also stars Kelly McGillis, with Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, and Tom Skerritt. The film grossed $357 million against a production budget of $15 million.

2. Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

Top Gun: Maverick is a sequel to Top Gun (1986) and the second installment in the Top Gun film series. The film stars Tom Cruise as Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell reprising his role from the original, alongside Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, and Ed Harris, with Val Kilmer. Top Gun: Maverick’s plot follows, “After more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. Training a detachment of graduates for a special assignment, Maverick must confront the ghosts of his past and his deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who choose to fly it.”

Mission: Impossible (1996) is the first installment in the Mission: Impossible film series. The film is directed by Brian De Palma. Mission: Impossible stars Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, a young, inexperienced agent of the Impossible Missions Force (IMF) and the protagonist of the film. The film also stars Jon Voight, Emmanuelle Béart, Henry Czerny, Ving Rhames, Kristin Scott Thomas, Vanessa Redgrave, and Jean Reno. The film follows, “When U.S. government operative Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his mentor, Jim Phelps (Jon Voight), go on a covert assignment that takes a disastrous turn, Jim is killed, and Ethan becomes the prime murder suspect. Now a fugitive, Hunt recruits brilliant hacker Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) and maverick pilot Franz Krieger (Jean Reno) to help him sneak into a heavily guarded CIA building to retrieve a confidential computer file that will prove his innocence.”

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol is directed by Brad Bird. The film is the fourth installment in the Mission: Impossible film series. Ghost Protocol stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and Paula Patton. In Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, the Impossible Missions Force (IMF) is shut down after being publicly implicated in a bombing of the Kremlin, causing Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his team to go without resources or backup in the life-threatening effort to clear their names.

War of the Worlds (2005)

War of the Worlds is based on the 1898 novel by H. G. Wells. It is the second film adaptation of the book following the loosely adapted 1953 film of the same name. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Josh Friedman and David Koepp, The film stars Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, Justin Chatwin, Miranda Otto, and Tim Robbins. The film follows, “Dockworker Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) struggles to build a positive relationship with his two children, Rachel (Dakota Fanning) and Robbie (Justin Chatwin). When his ex-wife, Mary Ann (Miranda Otto), drops them off at Ferrier’s house, it seems as though it will be just another tension-filled weekend. However, when electromagnetic pulses of the lightning strike the area, the strange event turns out to be the beginning of an alien invasion, and Ferrier must now protect his children as they seek refuge.”

6. Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

Edge of Tomorrow is a science fiction action film. The film is adapted from the 2004 Japanese light novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. The film takes place in the future where most of Europe is occupied by an alien race. Major William Cage (Cruise), a public relations officer with limited combat experience, is forced by his superiors to join a landing operation against the aliens, only to find himself experiencing a time loop as he tries to find a way to defeat the invaders.

The film stars Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, and Brendan Gleeson.

Jack Reacher is based on Lee Child’s 2005 novel One Shot. The film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie. The film stars Tom Cruise as the title character, with Rosamund Pike, David Oyelowo, Richard Jenkins, Jai Courtney, Werner Herzog, and Robert Duvall. Jack Reacher follows, “One morning in an ordinary town, five people are shot dead in a seemingly random attack. All evidence points to a single suspect: an ex-military sniper who is quickly brought into custody. The man’s interrogation yields one statement: Get Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise). Reacher, an enigmatic ex-Army investigator, believes the authorities have the right man but agrees to help the sniper’s defense attorney (Rosamund Pike). However, the more Reacher delves into the case, the less clear-cut it appears.”

Oblivion is based on Kosinski’s unpublished graphic novel of the same name. Oblivion takes place in 2077, on an Earth devastated by war with extraterrestrials that has caused humanity to relocate itself to Titan. The film follows the story of Jack Harper, a technician who has been sent back to Earth to service drones used in the fight against remaining extraterrestrials (scavengers). After witnessing a spacecraft crash, from which he rescues a survivor, Harper is captured by scavengers (who are revealed to be humans) and fights against a new and evolving alien threat. The film stars Tom Cruise, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Morgan Freeman and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018)

Mission: Impossible – Fallout is the sequel to Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) and is the sixth installment in the Mission: Impossible film series. The film follows, “Ethan Hunt and the IMF team join forces with CIA assassin August Walker to prevent a disaster of epic proportions. Arms dealer John Lark and a group of terrorists known as the Apostles plan to use three plutonium cores for a simultaneous nuclear attack on the Vatican, Jerusalem, and Mecca, Saudi Arabia. When the weapons go missing, Ethan and his crew find themselves in a desperate race against time to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.”

The film stars Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, Michelle Monaghan, and Alec Baldwin.

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is the sequel to Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011) and is the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible film series. The film follows, “With the IMF now disbanded and Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) out in the cold, a new threat — called the Syndicate — soon emerges. The Syndicate is a network of highly skilled operatives who are dedicated to establishing a new world order via an escalating series of terrorist attacks. Faced with what may be the most impossible mission yet, Ethan gathers his team and joins forces with Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), a disavowed British agent who may or may not be a member of this deadly rogue nation.”

The film stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, and Alec Baldwin.
