Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4 script will introduce Peter Parker to a new female love interest.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, who revealed this in a Patreon post: “Spider-Man 4 will feature a new female love interest. Black Cat is a potential choice, but the official casting will be announced soon.”
So, what about Zendaya‘s role in Spider-Man 4? A report from The InSneider reveals that Zendaya, who plays Michelle “MJ” Jones in the previous Spider-Man movies and serves as Peter Parker’s main love interest, will have a “severely reduced” role in Spider-Man 4 due to scheduling conflicts with several other films she has signed on for. She is now going to have a “minor” role in the movie.
The sudden rewrite of the script happened because it “doesn’t meet expectations for a follow-up to Spider-Man: No Way Home.” As a result, Marvel President Kevin Feige and Sony Pictures feel pressured to deliver something even better. The writing team—Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers—has been working to fix the plot and improve the story, which is now nearly completed.
A report confirms that the original script of Spider-Man 4 featured Scorpion and Shocker, but it has now been scrapped.
Filming will begin as per the planned schedule in June in the United Kingdom, with wrapping expected in October 2025. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) will direct the film from a screenplay by McKenna and Sommers, it will be the fourth installment of the Spider-Man series.
Produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man 4 will hit in theaters on July 24, 2026.
