Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4 will feature Tom Hardy’s Venom and Knull (the Symbiote God). Recently, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton was revealed as the director for Spider-Man 4, with filming set to begin next year.
According to Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus — Marvel Studios is aiming to develop a street-level story for Spider-Man 4. The film is expected to pit Holland’s Spider-Man against Hardy’s Venom — with Venom: The Last Dance setting up the crossover.
By the end of Venom: The Last Dance — Eddie Brock may enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as recent reshoots in New York City are related to this crossover.
Who Will Be The Main Villain For Spider-Man 4?
The main villain for Spider-Man 4 is Knull — the Symbiote God — who seeks to cover the multiverse in darkness after its discovery. Knull will first make his appearance in Venom: The Last Dance — likely in a post-credits scene. The Venom symbiote currently exists in two universes: the Sony-Verse and the MCU. This connection could trigger Knull to target Venom in the MCU’s 616 universe — with a mission to engulf the multiverse in darkness.
In the film, Spider-Man would team up with Daredevil to take on Wilson Fisk — following the events of Daredevil: Born Again. Multiple villains from Spider-Man’s lore were considered for the plot:
- New villains: the Maggia, Mister Negative, Spencer Smythe.
- Revamped villains: MacDonald “Mac” Gargan as Scorpion, Aaron Davis as Prowler.
Holland will return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and it is reported that Sony is trying to bring back Zendaya, while Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds won’t be returning. The script is written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, known for their work on previous MCU Spider-Man films.
Spider-Man 4 is expected to hit theaters in 2026.
