‘Top Gun 3‘ is in the works at Paramount.
Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Glen Powell, and director Joseph Kosinski are set to return, as confirmed by Puck.
The last film in the ‘Top Gun’ franchise, ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ was released in 2022. It grossed $1.496 billion worldwide, becoming the second-highest-grossing film of 2022 and the top-grossing movie of Cruise’s career.
According to reports, Maverick’s co-writer Ehren Kruger is working on a new installment script.
In ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, after more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. While training a detachment of graduates for a special assignment, Maverick must confront the ghosts of his past and his deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who choose to fly it.
The filming of the new Top Gun movie might be delayed because Tom Cruise is currently busy with Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two. There are also reports that Warner Bros. wants him for ‘Edge of Tomorrow 2.’ This news comes after Cruise signed a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery for movies, but it’s not an exclusive deal.
Recently, Emily Blunt shared that the script for ‘Edge of Tomorrow 2’ is ready and jokingly teased Cruise about quitting ‘Mission Impossible’ films and making a comeback.
‘Top Gun 3’ currently has no release date from Paramount Pictures.
