John Crowley‘s upcoming romantic film ‘We Live in Time,’ starring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield, has been officially rated R by the MPA (Motion Picture Association, formerly MPAA).
According to this week’s full new CARA/MPA Film Rating Bulletin dated July 3, 2024, the A24 and StudioCanal-distributed ‘We Live in Time’ has been “rated R for language, sexuality, and nudity.”
Directed by Crowley from a screenplay by Nick Payne, the film stars Pugh as Almut, Garfield as Tobias, Adam James as Simon Maxon, Marama Corlett as Adrienne Duvall, Aoife Hinds as Skye, Nikhil Parmar as Sanjaya, Heather Craney as Buffy Jones, and Kara Lynch.
According to the film’s plot, “Almut finds her life forever changed by a chance encounter with Tobias, a recent divorcé. But after falling for each other, building a home, and starting a family, a difficult truth is revealed.”
Speaking to University College Cork’s film and television podcast, Crowley said, “With thrilling performances from [Pugh and Garfield] both of them, it’s the portrait of a marriage and what it means to create a family.” He added, “Their chemistry is extraordinary in it—the playfulness and heartbreak of it and the fights and silliness. It’s a thrilling performance from both of them and together as well, because it’s a marriage and a portrait of what it means to try and create a family.”
Produced by Leah Clarke, Adam Ackland, and Guy Heeley, the film is a collaboration between Film4, SunnyMarch, and StudioCanal.
