At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Dave Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer takes responsibility for the kids rescued from the High Evolutionary Facility. and he decided to depart from the Guardians of the Galaxy. Drax’s main love interest was Mantis (Pom Klementieff), who decided to embark on a trip to discover what she truly desires in life. This must be an excellent finish for the character, as the superheroes deserve to live a peaceful and happy life. Drax once had a wife and kids; they were killed by Thanos, so he turned himself into a living weapon and named him the Destroyer.

No, Drax the Destroyer won’t die in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Drax chooses to take care of the kids that the Guardians rescued from the High Evolutionary Facility. During “The Tonight Show,” Bautista revealed that he would not return as Drax once again. He said, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is my seventh film as Drax. And my third ‘Guardians’ movie. It was like our trilogy. That’s kind of what we all signed up for—to do a trilogy. And I think this will be the last version of our ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.'”

“With Drax, I just got to end the perfect way,” he added. “And I would never sign up for another job as Drax just to get a paycheck. I would tarnish that [perfect ending], and I won’t do it.”

According to the film’s plot:

In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
