Hugh Jackman will reportedly play Wolverine for at least another 10 years in the MCU. Following his recent appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine, he will next appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, “Jackman plans to remain the Wolverine of the MCU for at least another decade. The Australian actor is ‘not even close to being done,’ and Marvel Studios also wants a Deadpool & Wolverine trilogy.”
Last year, Deadpool & Wolverine was released. The film grossed $1.338 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. Following the massive success, a sequel to Deadpool & Wolverine is already in discussions.
Recently, insider DanielRPK revealed that Deadpool and Wolverine will return in Avengers: Doomsday. Also, I heard rumors that Marvel Studios is making major efforts to ensure the interaction between Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker and Jackman’s Wolverine happens, along with other legacy character moments.
When Deadpool & Wolverine was released, a big question remained from fans: when will an X-Men reboot film be made? It’s getting closer, as the studio is already developing an X-Men movie, but Jackman’s Wolverine will not be involved in it.
Filming for Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to begin in March 2025, with the Russo Brothers directing and Stephen McFeely writing the script. Unusually for Marvel, the Russo Brothers will also produce both films through their AGBO banner.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on May 1, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars will be released on May 7, 2027.
