Marvel Animation‘s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Episode 1, “Amazing Fantasy,” is now available on Disney+. We get a look at how the show will be; it is similar to Earth-616’s Spider-Man origin.
Episode 1 opens with Peter Parker leading a normal life with his Aunt May, following the death of Ben. When going to high school orientation at Midtown High School, suddenly, a portal appears, and Doctor Strange and Venom come through, fighting. A spider comes through the portal unnoticed. While Strange has a tough fight with the symbiote, Peter helps save Nico Minoru, and Strange catches the symbiote.
Unfortunately, the spider from the portal bites Peter, and he falls down. A few months later, Peter is now Spider-Man. On the way to school, Peter saves Harry Osborn from a robbery and makes a live broadcast as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Following the incident, Peter goes to school and meets his friend Nico. Also, Peter has a huge crush on Pearl Pangan, his classmate.
When Peter tries to talk to her, he suddenly finds out that Pearl has a muscular boyfriend, Lonnie Lincoln. During an experiment, Lonnie and Peter become friends, and Lonnie mentions that Pearl talks about Peter for his intelligence.
At the end of the episode, Peter goes back home and sees Norman Osborn in his house, talking to May. This scene is reminiscent of Captain America: Civil War, when Peter first met Tony Stark.
Overall, Episode 1 has no major action scenes, focusing instead on Peter’s ordinary life as he begins his journey to becoming Spider-Man.
