Zac Efron is set to star in Jody Hill’s thriller ‘Famous,’ where he will portray dual roles: overzealous fan Lance Dunkquist and Hollywood heartthrob James Jansen.
Directed by Hill, ‘Famous’ will be introduced to international buyers by Black Bear at the upcoming EFM. CAA Media Finance and WME Independent will represent the U.S. rights.
What is the Plot of ‘Famous’?
Efron will play two roles in the movie: an obsessed fan named Lance Dunkquist and a Hollywood heartthrob named James Jansen. The film is based on a bestselling novel by Blake Crouch and adapted by Chad Hodge, who previously worked on the Wayward Pines series.
The story centers on Lance Dunkquist, who looks exactly like the famous Hollywood icon James Jansen. With this advantage, Lance sets out for Los Angeles to fulfill his dream of becoming famous, no matter what it takes.
Produced by Sam Esmail and Chad Hamilton from Esmail Corp., with Nick Krishnamurthy as executive producer.
Recently, Efron starred in ‘The Iron Claw,’ a film based on the life of professional wrestler Kevin Von Erich and his family. The cast includes Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Maura Tierney, Holt McCallany, and Lily James. The movie has grossed $36 million. (VOD Release Date)
