Zachary Levi believes Hollywood should stop producing garbage films. He pointedly mentioned that people need to actively opt out of consuming such content in order to make a difference. Interestingly, this is the same Zachary Levi who played a role in “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.” He’s now gearing up for his next appearance in the “Spy Kids” reboot, titled “Spy Kids: Armageddon,” as seen in the recently revealed trailer for the film and will premiere on Netflix on September 22, 2023.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Levi said, “I personally feel like the amount of content that comes out of Hollywood that is garbage; they don’t care enough to actually make it great for you guys. They don’t,” Levi added, “How many times do you watch a trailer and go, ‘Oh my god, this looks so cool!’ Then you go to the movie, and it’s like, ‘This was what I get?'”
Levi continued. “They know that once you’ve already bought the ticket and you’re in the seat, they’ve got your money. And the only way for us to change any of it is to not go to the garbage. We have to actively not choose the garbage. It’ll help. It’ll help a lot.”
According to Levi, The audience score is holding up well, the critics’ score was surprisingly low, and some responses were unusually harsh. “The audience score is still quite good, but the critics’ score was, I don’t know, very oddly and perplexingly low, and people were insanely unkind.” He added, “Listen, I’ve been a part of things, and as much as I wish that they were good, I know that they’re okay, and I know they missed a lot. I’m not saying Shazam! Fury of the Gods is some perfect Orson Welles masterpiece, but it’s a good darn movie.”
Zachary Levi Jokes About SAG-AFTRA Strike and Actor Pay at Comic-Con
During an appearance at Comic-Con Manchester last month, a video was uploaded to TikTok in which Levi humorously expressed his frustration with the SAG-AFTRA strike. He shared how studios are reluctant to provide fair pay to actors. “I’m not allowed to talk about [any of my projects]… This is so dumb. I’m not allowed to talk about any of my previous work.”
