Marvel is rebooting ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘ with new writers and directors because the initial approach didn’t match the action-packed style of the Netflix series. In the new version, Charlie Cox won’t appear in the Daredevil costume until Episode 4.
Daredevil: Born Again’ Series Faces Delay and Rework Due to SAG-AFTRA Strike
Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, only a portion of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ episodes were filmed, and the series will be reworked. Some existing scenes and elements will be retained, but the release, originally planned for 2024, is now delayed.
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of streaming, television, and animation, said, “We’re trying to marry the Marvel culture with the traditional television culture.” Winderbaum added, “It comes down to, ‘How can we tell stories on television that honor what’s so great about the source material?’”
According to THR, Marvel will keep some scenes and episodes, and new elements will be added. Matt Corman and Chris Ord are now executive producers for the two-season series. Daredevil is one of several Marvel series with behind-the-scenes changes. There have been concerns about differing creative visions at Marvel’s TV shows, where TV depends on writers while Marvel is driven by its own vision.
According to the show’s new plot: Marvel Studios presents ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ in which longtime rivals Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) try to leave behind their darker alter-egos to serve the people of New York only to have their pasts catch up to them.
In the show, Matt Murdock and Kirsten McDuffie start a new law firm called “Murdock & Associates” when Nelson and Murdock split up. Created by Matt Corman and Chris Ord for Disney+. The series is centered on the character, following “Daredevil” (2015–2018) by Marvel Television.
The new cast for ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ includes Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn and Nikki M. James as Kristen McDuffie, both of whom were love interests of Murdock in Marvel Comics. Notably, Michael Gandolfini will portray Daniel Blade, Arty Froushan as Buck Cashman, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, and Genneya Walton as BB Urich.
