Following the announcement of the new Knives Out movie, we received news from Deadline that Josh O’Connor (Challengers) and Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla) are confirmed to star in Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery alongside Daniel Craig.
The film also stars Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Jeremy Renner, Glenn Close, and Mila Kunis.
Rian Johnson, who directed the first two films, will return to direct Wake Up Dead Man. In the announcement statement, Johnson said, “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.” Johnson added, “We’re about to go into production on the third one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going.”
There are also rumors from What’s on Netflix that Lindsay Lohan and Tom Hardy are in talks for Wake Up Dead Man. Filming is set to begin on June 10, 2024, in London.
‘Wake Up Dead Man’ will be distributed by Netflix as part of Johnson’s $450 million deal for two sequels. While the first film grossed $312 million worldwide, ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery‘ had a limited theatrical release, earning $13 million before streaming on Netflix.
According to Netflix, Benoit Blanc will be unraveling a brand new murder mystery in an as-yet-undisclosed setting, surrounded by a new colorful cast of suspects.
‘Wake Up Dead Man’ is produced by Johnson and his partner, Ram Bergman, through T-Street Pictures and will be distributed by Netflix.
‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’ will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
