Hilary Swank, the two-time Oscar-winning actress, has been added to the cast for Paramount+/Showtime’s Yellowjackets Season 3, which is currently filming in Vancouver.
According to Deadline, Swank will be a recurring guest star in the upcoming season and may become a series regular if the show is renewed for a fourth season.
Swank’s character has not been revealed—and the character will be introduced later in the season. She could potentially play the adult version of a teen on the soccer team—whose story has not been fully explored yet.
Yellowjackets is created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. According to the show’s official plot, “Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story, and coming-of-age drama—Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls’ soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans—while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later—proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.”
The cast of Yellowjackets includes Tawny Cypress as Adult Taissa, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Teen Taissa, Melanie Lynskey as Adult Shauna, Sophie Nélisse as Teen Shauna, Juliette Lewis as Adult Natalie, Sophie Thatcher as Teen Natalie, Christina Ricci as Adult Misty, Sammi Hanratty as Teen Misty, Ella Purnell as Jackie Taylor (Season 1, recurring in Season 2), Steven Krueger as Ben Scott, Warren Kole as Adult Jeff, Simone Kessell as Adult Lottie (Season 2), Courtney Eaton as Teen Lottie (recurring in Season 1), Lauren Ambrose as Adult Vanessa (Season 2), Liv Hewson as Teen Vanessa (recurring in Season 1), and Kevin Alves as Teen Travis (recurring in Season 1).
Yellowjackets is executive-produced by Lyle, Nickerson, and fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco. Drew Comins of Creative Engine also serves as an executive producer, along with Jeff Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa, and Brad Van Arragon.
Produced by Lionsgate Television, Yellowjackets premiered in 2021 and has been well received, scoring seven Emmy Award nominations over its first two seasons, including Outstanding Drama Series.
Swank is an Oscar winner for Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby, and recently starred in Lionsgate’s Ordinary Angels alongside Alan Ritchson. In television, she headlined ABC’s Alaska Daily, earning a Golden Globe nomination.
Yellowjackets Season 3 is set to premiere on Showtime next year.
