Following the end of the Venom trilogy in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU), an Agent Venom movie is reportedly in development.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, who revealed in a new Patreon post that Sony is developing an Agent Venom movie, the project is currently in the early stages. It’s still unknown whether the film will take place on Battleworld.
The film is rumored to be released before Avengers: Secret Wars and will have major connections to the live-action Silver Sable film. Recently, Sony has begun redeveloping the Silver Sable project.
Who is Agent Venom in Marvel Comics?
In Marvel Comics, Agent Venom combines the anti-hero Venom symbiote with the character Flash Thompson—who originally appeared as a high school bully in The Amazing Spider-Man #1 (1962). He later became a soldier and adopted the Agent Venom persona in Venom #1 (2011). The origin of Agent Venom is that after losing his legs during military service, Flash Thompson is recruited by the U.S. government to bond with the Venom symbiote. The symbiote grants him superhuman abilities— including enhanced strength, agility, and the power to manipulate his own mass.
Sony had plans for the top villain character Venom even after Venom: The Last Dance. The film’s post-credits scene hinted at future possibilities for Venom. Most recently, the release date for Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4 was revealed—it is scheduled to hit theaters on July 24, 2026.
In the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU), the upcoming movie Kraven the Hunter stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Sergei Kravinoff/Kraven, set to be released in theaters on December 13, 2024. Additionally, a TV show based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man Noir is in development at Amazon, featuring Nicolas Cage. Spider-Noir follows an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York City as he grapples with his past life as the city’s only superhero.
