The first look at Cillian Murphy and Rebecca Ferguson on the set of Netflix‘s Peaky Blinders movie has been revealed, as they filmed a scene in Manchester, England, on November 4, 2024.
In the exclusive images, we see Murphy as Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby, holding a horse and appearing badly injured, with visible wounds on his face. Ferguson is dressed in a long black coat.
The Peaky Blinders movie will be an epic continuation of the multi-award-winning, six-season gangster saga. Set in Birmingham between 1919 and 1934, Peaky Blinders followed the rise—and occasional fall—of the Shelby family as they navigated a world fraught with radical social, economic, and political change.
Tom Harper is directing the film, which is based on a screenplay by the show’s creator, Steven Knight. Murphy will return as Tommy Shelby.
According to Maxblizz’s report, the film’s working title is reportedly The Immortal Man. Filming will continue in Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, and Leeds, England.
The Peaky Blinders movie also stars Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs, The Hateful Eight), Stephen Graham (Matilda, Boiling Point), Sophie Rundle (After the Flood, Gentleman Jack), Ned Dennehy (Culprits, The Peripheral), Packy Lee (Blue Lights), Ian Peck (His Dark Materials, Robin Hood), Jay Lycurgo (Steve, Half Bad: The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself), and Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin).
Recently, the first look at set images featuring Rundle and Keoghan was leaked during filming.
The production team includes Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy, and Guy Heeley as producers. Executive producers are Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason. The film will be made in partnership with BBC Film.
“When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive,” Harper said. “Peaky has always been a story about family — and so it’s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix.”
“There’s a great feeling of anticipation and excitement amongst our outstanding cast and crew,” Harper added. “We’re grateful to the fans for getting us to this point and believe this next chapter is going to deliver something extraordinary.”
The Peaky Blinders movie will be released on Netflix in 2025.
