The official title of the upcoming Netflix movie Peaky Blinders, starring Cillian Murphy, has been revealed.
According to Daniel Richtman, who confirmed on his new Patreon, the Peaky Blinders movie is reportedly titled The Immortal Man. Tim Roth and Jay Lycurgo have also reportedly joined the cast alongside Murphy, Barry Keoghan, and Rebecca Ferguson.
Filming is scheduled to begin between October and December 2024 in locations such as Liverpool and Birmingham. Tom Harper is directing the film, based on a screenplay by the show’s creator, Steven Knight. Murphy will reprise his role as Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby and also produce.
During the film’s announcement, Murphy said, “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me,” Murphy told Netflix. “It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”
Harper, who directed episodes of the show’s first season in 2013, will direct the new film from a script by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. “When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive,” Harper said. “Peaky has always been a story about family — and so it’s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix.”
The production team includes Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy, and Guy Heeley as producers. Executive producers are Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason. The film will be made in partnership with BBC Film.
The Immortal Man is set to be released on Netflix in 2025, with the exact date to be announced.
