Netflix has released a new trailer for Squid Game Season 2, set to premiere on the platform next month. The trailer reveals that Lee Jung-jae (Player 456) is returning to find the original group behind the deadly game. Watch the trailer above.
A new villain, Player 230, will appear in Season 2, played by Choi Seung Hyun / T.O.P. The trailer shows Player 230 tricking the rest of the players by pushing them into the game to their deaths.
According to Netflix’s logline for Squid Game Season 2:
“Three years after winning the Squid Game, Player 456 has abandoned plans to go to the United States and returns with a new determination. Gi-hun once again enters the mysterious survival game, embarking on another life-or-death challenge alongside new participants, all vying for the 45.6 billion won prize.”
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk — who made history at the 74th Primetime Emmys® as the first Asian to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series — returns to helm the series as director, writer, and producer.
Squid Game Season 2 stars Jung-jae reprising his role as Seong Gi-hun (Player 456), Wi Ha-joon as Hwang Jun-ho, and Lee Byung-hun as Hwang In-ho, the Front Man. Gong Yoo returns as the salesman who recruits participants for the game. New confirmed cast members include Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-shim, Lee David, Lee Jin-wook, Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Won Ji-an, Park Gyu-young, Jeon Seok-ho, Kim Si-eun, and Oh Dal-su.
Squid Game Season 2 will premiere on December 26, 2024, on Netflix.
