The official trailer for James Gunn‘s Superman has become the most-watched Warner Bros. and DC trailer ever within its first 24 hours, as Gunn officially confirmed on X (formerly Twitter).
The trailer reached 22.5 million views in the first 24 hours on the DC YouTube channel and is currently the #1 trending video on the platform.
As of now, the biggest trailer debuts of all time are: Deadpool & Wolverine with 365 million views, Spider-Man: No Way Home with 355.5 million, the Avengers: Endgame teaser at 289 million, the Avengers: Endgame trailer at 268 million, and Gunn’s Superman with 250 million.
On X, Gunn said, “Krypto really did take us home: With over 250 million views and a million social posts, Superman is officially the most-viewed and most-talked-about trailer in the history of both DC and Warner Bros.”
He added, “This is because of all of you—thank you! We’re incredibly grateful and, most of all, excited to share this movie with you in July. Happy Holidays!”
The Superman trailer was released on December 19, 2024. Its shots are highly promising, showcasing Gunn’s vision of the powerful Kryptonian. It features Superman fighting a huge Kaiju, appearances by Krypto, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and more.
The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
The film is written and directed by Gunn and is the first film of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Gunn also produced the film with Peter Safran under DC Studios.
