The report also included some casting rumors, with several stars under consideration: Sadie Sink (Stranger Things, The Whale) as Jean Grey, Harris Dickinson (Babygirl, Triangle of Sadness) as Scott Summers, and Julia Butters (The Gray Man, The Fabelmans) as Kitty Pryde.
An insider, Daniel Richtman, recently revealed that the X-Men reboot film will not be an origin story and will be released after Avengers: Secret Wars. Additionally, Marvel is eyeing actors aged 20-30 for the cast.
Hunter Schafer (Euphoria, Cuckoo) is rumored to be cast as Raven Darkhölme/Mystique. However, she has not signed the deal yet.
The upcoming Avengers movies’ directors, the Russo Brothers, will oversee the X-Men project as they have signed a new deal with Marvel Studios to continue working with the studio even after Secret Wars. They will serve as executive producers under their production company, AGBO.
Recently, Marvel President Kevin Feige appeared virtually during the Disney APAC Content Showcase and spoke about the future of the X-Men, calling their return to Marvel Studios “a dream come true.”
Feige said, “I think you will see that continue in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize.” He added, “Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men. Again, [it’s] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back.”
