Thor 5 will start production in 2026 and is planned to release in 2027. It will be Chris Hemsworth‘s last Thor movie.

In a January Discord Q&A (via The Cosmic Circus), insider Alex Perez confirmed that Hemsworth’s Thor will appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.

Marvel's Thor 5 will introduce Valhalla and the Thor Corps, featuring multiple versions of Thor. Hercules and Ares are also expected to have major roles in the film.

Perez also shared that Thor 5 will include Valhalla, the afterlife for fallen warriors. The Thor Corps will appear, showing different versions of Thor from various universes. Hercules and Ares will also have major roles, either as rivals or allies.

Taika Waititi, the director of Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), was rumored to direct Thor 5. However, reports say that Marvel Studios has removed him because Love and Thunder was not well received.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, George Miller, who recently worked with Hemsworth on Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, discussed the possibility of directing Thor 5.

Miller said, “I would work with Chris on anything. I really would. He’s a wonderful actor. He’s got the full range of all the skills. Miller added, “I mean, you’ve got to be athletic, physically. But, you also have gotta be athletic emotionally and intellectually to take on these very, ultimately fairly complex, any role really. So, I was very lucky with all my cast and particularly in the way that Anya and Chris matched each other. Particularly towards the end of the month.”

Thor 5 could be released in 2027.
